Concrete, Paint, and Tractors

The new tractor

While we have not been able to have campers this summer, we have had many teens and adults come to use their talents and time to accomplish a great deal. Concrete has been poured for new porches and a space to cook with our grills. Several buildings have been painted and repaired, including the girls dorm. A new space for our water equipment was also built which will provide room to keep the water flowing safely. Beyond all of that, the Lord has provided a new tractor to replace the old one which has been chugging around the property for over 20 years. Here are just a few pictures to tell the story.

Summer Camp 2020 Update

Dear Parents and Campers,

On behalf of the Board of Twin Peaks Bible Camp it saddens me to inform you that we have made the decision to cancel our youth summer camps for 2020. Based upon the Governors orders and directives from the Colorado Department of Public and Environment, we have come to this difficult decision.

We invite you to visit our website at www.twinpeaksbiblecamp.org, follow and like our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages and check out our new YouTube Channel for news from camp. You can keep up to date on the progress on raising the funds for full-time electricity, current and upcoming projects, as well as animals that visit the camp, weather conditions and the changing seasons. You will also want to stay alert for special activities, some things you can do to bring camp to your home.

We are praying for you and your family through this time. Contact us with any prayer requests that you have by emailing us at info@tpbc-co.org, call the office, or write us a letter. We would love to hear from you.

God’s grace,
Aaron D. Thomas
Director

COVID-19 Summer Camp Impact

After much consideration, the board of Twin Peaks Bible Camp has decided to implement the following changes for the Summer 2020 camping season. We are sorry to announce that the first two weeks of camp, 3rd and 4th grade week, July 6 – 11, and 5th and 6th grade week, July 13 – 18, have been cancelled for this summer. Our goal is to have camp for 7th & 8th grade week, July 20 – 25, and high school week, July 27 – August 1, if at all possible. We plan to have more information concerning the last two weeks by June 1, 2020. We will do our best to get this information out to all of you but please check back here for updates along the way.

We are deeply saddened to make this decision but feel it is best at this time with the uncertainty of the situation, our goal of safety for campers and staff, and our responsibility to follow state and local regulations. Please pray that the Lord will work in this difficult environment to allow us to glorify Him and to share the love of Jesus.

COVID-19 Update

Proverbs 16:9 says The mind of man plans his way but the Lord directs his steps. It is a good reminder for us that no matter what plans we may make, the Lord is still in ultimate control.

We are in the midst of the challenges that COVID-19 has brought to our world. Here in Colorado, we are in a shelter-in-place order for at least a couple more weeks. There is great uncertainty about what will happen next as well as when our country will be able to return to a more normal routine.

With all of this in mind, we wanted to bring an update to you concerning COVID-19 and Twin Peaks Bible Camp. We are deeply concerned about the health and well being of everyone involved with camp and will take great care in opening camp only when it is safe to do so. We are also instructed by our Lord to respect our governing authorities and will be in close contact with the appropriate agencies to help us abide by all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Which brings us to the big question. Will there be camp this summer? In all honesty, we don’t know. It is too early to tell what the situation will be at that time. We will do everything we can to have camp as long as it is safe and legal. We will also do everything we can to keep you informed of the situation as we have more information.

Would you do something for us? Please pray for the following.

  • That the Lord provides wisdom as we deal with the situation.
  • That the Lord, if it is in His will, would stop the virus so we can have camp this summer.
  • That, if we are able to have camp, He would provide the campers He would have come.
  • That, if we are able to have camp, He would provide the staff and counselors needed.
  • That we will find ways to minister whether we have camp or not.
  • That the Lord provides for the financial needs of the staff through the donations of faithful supporters.
  • That in all things, the Lord would be honored in what we do at Twin Peaks Bible Camp.

We deeply appreciate your involvement with camp. We are praying that the Lord keeps you safe and works in your life in these challenging times. Thank you for being a part of Twin Peaks Bible Camp.

In Christ,

The Board of Twin Peaks Bible Camp

Water System Project

Water – we all know how important it is in our everyday lives and it is no different at camp. Our water comes from a spring above camp and while it has always tested to be clean and pure, we have to chlorinate it to comply with state and federal regulations. Our current structure for the chlorinator is basically a manhole, which has met our needs to this point but is beginning to show its limitations.

The Twin Peaks Bible Camp board has decided it is time to replace the current structure with a more appropriate building. This will provide room to work with the system and remove the danger of a confined space. It will also allow us to heat the space for more year around use while meeting the current and future regulations. We anticipate a cost of about $5000 for this project. If you would like to help with the cost please visit our donations page to explore the options.

Here are a few picture of the current situation.

Ladies Retreat

The weather was perfect for opportunities to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. We had a small group but enjoyed great fellowship, hikes and s’mores around the campfire. The chapels focused on Biblical Hospitality, as the women watched videos off of the book “Just Open the Door,” by Jen Schmidt. We had great discussion times after the videos and were encouraged to look at hospitality in a new way and get away from “entertaining.” The food was wonderful and all the women appreciated not having to cook!! It was a great weekend.

The Snow is Deep!

The snow is deep and plentiful at camp this year! With the abundance of snow, we have had to shovel some roofs to make sure the buildings weren’t damaged. It is also creating challenges to keep the road cleared and paths open. We thought you might like to see a few pictures of the winter wonderland at 8000 feet on the Grand Mesa.

Boys dorm is a bit hard to get to right now.
Dining hall has its share of snow as well.

We might need to climb some to get out!
The snack shop carries a load of snow.
The snow is piled high after it slides off the snack shop.
Whitecaps on the cabins!
The metal roofs help shed the load of snow.
Girls dorm has shed most of the snow.

A great view of Old Man Mountain.
