Director: Ryan and Robin Stepanek
Ryan and Robin Stepanek have lived in the Grand Valley most of their lives. God has blessed them with six wonderful children: River, Aspen, Clay, Reed, Canyon, and Bear. Ryan is a graduate of Frontier School of the Bible in LaGrange, Wyoming. Over the years, Ryan has built a successful company as a general contractor, building custom homes. Robin has worked in the community as a Certified ASL Interpreter. In 2015, they were called into youth ministry and are passionate about seeing youth draw closer to God in their daily lives.
As Ryan spent most of the winter/spring of 2019 building three new buildings for Twin Peaks Bible Camp, they faithfully prayed about God’s direction for their family. They were thrilled that God opened the door for them to fill the need as Property Managers at Twin Peaks Bible Camp.
In September 2023, Twin Peaks Bible Camp’s Board of Directors asked Ryan to step into the Director role. His family serves together using all the gifts God has given them.

Kitchen Manger: Shayna Scholten
Staff: Michael Scholten

Michael and Shayna Scholten met in Grand Junction, CO, married at the end of 2023, and decided to call this city their home. Shayna spent many of her childhood summers at Twin Peaks Bible Camp, where in 2011, she placed her faith in Jesus as her savior while serving as an A-teamer.
During her college years, Shayna immersed herself in a college ministry called Master Plan Ministries (MPM). She spent a substantial amount of time going on mission trips, service projects, and evangelizing on the Colorado Mesa University campus. After graduating with a music degree, Shayna joined staff with MPM for over two years, going on more mission trips overseas to closed countries, leading bible studies, discipling college students, and sharing the gospel, simply desiring to see others grow in their relationship with God. After marrying Michael, she left Master Plan and went into hospitality, working as a Banquet Captain at a local hotel and serving as a leader at their church’s youth ministry and Awana program alongside Michael.
Michael is a full-time teacher, an Army Veteran, and a former McDonald’s General Manager. While serving in the military and being a teacher, he has gained comprehensive skills in crisis management, kitchen management, and leadership training and development. Before becoming a teacher, Michael spent a lot of time on overseas mission trips with his college mentor and serving his local Christian community discipling young men.
Michael and Shayna are excited to use their previous ministry experience, work experience, and the skills God gave them to serve Him and Twin Peaks Bible Camp. Shayna will serve full-time as TPBC’s Kitchen Manager, and Michael will primarily serve with our A-team during his summers off from teaching.
Maintanence: Gil Lawton
Admin Assistant: Taneil Lawton
Gil and Taneil Lawton both grew up in the Grand Valley. Gil grew up in Loma, and Taneil grew up in the Redlands. Gil attended Camp Christian, near New Castle, Colorado, and Taneil attended Camp Id-Ra-Ha-Je West near Paonia, Colorado, where she trusted Christ as her Savior. They met in 1991 and married in 2000 after serving together in ministry for several years. God has filled their quiver with 10 children. Tirzah (’02) married to Josiah, Azariah (’03), Zebadiah (’06), Talitha (‘08), Tabitha (‘10), Zurishaddai (‘11), Uriah (‘14), Tikvah (‘15), Taaviah (‘18), and Taaniah (‘21).
Gil started a handyman business in 2010 and has been self-employed for the last 15 years. Taneil has an associate degree in graphic arts and has a freelance graphic arts business. She has been homeschooling their children since 2007. Together, they are dedicated to being involved in their local church and serving in multiple ways. From 2019 until 2025, they served as youth leaders in their church. Currently Gil serves as a deacon, Taneil helps oversee the Children’s Ministry and is part of the women’s ministry team, and they also teach children’s church together. Both have a heart for seeing the Word of God impact people’s lives.
After serving at camp in the Summer of 2024, overseeing the A-Team and helping in various ways, they started praying about coming on as full-time staff. In the Summer of 2025, they again served as staff. Continuing to feel called to work as staff at TPBC, they prayed earnestly for the Lord’s direction.
In November 2025, the Twin Peaks Bible Camp Board of Directors invited Gil and Taneil to come on staff. Gil will use his handyman skills and primarily focus on camp maintenance, and Taneil will use her graphic design and computer skills as the Admin Assistant. However, the whole Lawton family serves in many different roles at camp, from cleaning the bathhouse and washing dishes to singing “The 12 Days of Camp” during family camp. They are excited to be on staff at Twin Peaks Bible Camp, serving both those who work at camp and those who attend camps and retreats.
